The Willson Concertante
What a wonderful experience
to attend a premiere in person!
A composer is always thrilled when a work is given a
performance.  When it is such a fine performance then
it becomes a special gift.  I will always be indebted to
my friend Charley Brighton who played the solo part
so beautifully and to John Andrews and the excellent
musicians in the City of London Symphonic Winds for
such a wonderful performance.  And I'm sure those
other composers Bernstein, Woolfenden, Arnold and
Copland would have felt the same if they were there to
hear this ensemble.

It was really worth the trip across the "pond".  And my
friend Charley and his companion Sue were
wonderful hosts making my trip that much more
enjoyable.  Especially since they arranged a surprise
recital the day before the concert at St Mary's in
Slough.  The recital featured some of my duets
(Euph/Baritone), a Euph/Organ piece and two organ
pieces I wrote for Malcolm Stowell - the third actor in
my delightful surprise.
