Serenade for Susan
by Joe Miserendino  This piece is an example of how
to write for piano and solo instrument. The composer
has created a beautiful tune for the Baritone and has
added an interesting accompaniment for piano that
gels the piece together, creating a well thought out,
developed composition.  James Mackie 2005

Song of a lonely night by Miserendino:
Excellent work. Pure beauty comes from the cellos.

Longings of the lonely night! Joe here, as always,
makes the instrument to sing with an expressive
quality ---- Wonderful job once again Joe.

Wonderful feeling on this piece, superb
orchestration. Respect. Phil

My favorite of Joe's pieces. Smooth and tranquil.

I've gone through the score
and recording of your
Sonatina Rondo for
Trombone and Piano. I'm
very impressed with your
writing. It's a marvelous
piece. The harmonies are
delightful and consistent,
the melodic development
engaging, the structure
clean. Nice.

The recital last Saturday was really
excellent. It was a full house and
the audience loved the music.
From that concert I was offered to
play four more recitals at other art
gallery openings.  Your
Soliloquy
Triste went very well and was an
excellent conclusion for my recital.
I strongly believe that your piece
will have continued success.  It
fits my program very well as it is
accessible ... it is emotional and
its lyrical lines lend themselves
perfectly to a variety
expressions.  It is for these
reasons that I ended my program
with this lovely unaccompanied
work.

on the world premier of The Willson Concertante

“what an absolutely brilliant, wonderful, joyful,
ecstatic, rambunctious piece!
is it my imagination or is this a little bit more "tonal"
than we're used to hearing from you?
it has such a festive feel. I was sort of surprised
the audience didn't JUMP to scream their applause
at the end! that was just so much fun! I was down
before listening to it, but it sure helped pick me up!
bravo “  Michel R. Edward compositeur Ville Saint-
Laurent, Québec

“Joe, I love your Euphonium Concerto. It really
shows what a beautiful tone the instrument is
capable of, and at the same time it shows how
incredibly athletic it can be. Your Concerto is a
fantastic, colorful, and challenging showpiece for
the soloist as well as the ensemble - and the
performance is as good as any of us could hope
for. The pedal tone in movement II really took my
breath away.” Hal

”Hi Joe, I just finished listening to the whole
recording. Congratulations. The applause was well
deserved. Has the euphonium player caught his
breath back yet?  ” Ron

I thought
In My Heart was beautiful. It is
refreshing to hear Sue’s natural Baritone sound
as I hate Baritone players who attempt to mimic
the output from Euphoniums - entirely different
textures. I also liked Malcolms two
items very much.

Joe has produced a masterpiece (yet again!) with
his
Willson Concertante for Euphonium and Wind
Orchestra. Very well played Charley!
Fanfare Festival by Miserendino

Great melody lines,  Great development of the
ideas as the piece progresses. Dig the break into
the climactic ending, excellent work on this
piece. Respect. Phil

Fantastic! My overall favorite in the Superbowl!
I just love your use of rhythmic variation - Your
signature harmony is wonderful What a finish

A fine work Joe, the writing seems to have come
very easy to you and it has lovelyshape and
sounds. So many fanfares are just 'noise’.
